Alright – lets be honest, disclaimers and privacy policies are like reading any instruction manual…a bit pointless and who the hell actually reads them? But this is my little corner of the Internet, and its important to me that everyone is aware of what’s what, espeically when we chat about things close to my heart, mainly mental health but that could spread to any ‘advice’. So grab a brew, maybe a quick snack…and I promise this will be over soon.

Your Privacy: What happens to your bits and bobs?

Comments:

I love it when you leave comments, even the non-sensical spam ones, if you do leave a comment, the website will remember your name and your email address (if you provide them) so everyone can view your brilliant thoughts. It does also let me filter out all the random…crap, lets face it, no one wants that. Akismet helps me keeps things tidy as well as reCAPTCHA for my contact forms (more on that below).

Cookies:

Not the edible kind, unfortunately – the ones that store your browsing data. They help the site run smoothly, like remembering if you’re a little odd, and you’ve visited before. They’re all anonymous, I don’t use adverts or anything like that so you won’t find random stuff being thrown at you so you buy them, just general data so I can make this place better.

Analytics:

I use some super basic analytics (it’s built into WordPress) to see how many folks are visiting and what content they find interesting, again this is all anonymous, I don’t know who is reading my posts, just that someone did.

What do you do with this info?

Honestly, as little as possible. I know how much of a pain in the arse it is to find you’ve been pwned by a data breach, get random phone calls, spam emails and everything in between. That’s why all I’m using the minimal information I gather for, is just to keep things ticking over and if you want me to, reach out and reply to your comments. Your information is safe, I ain’t selling it anywhere and if you want anything deleted, just use the contact form and I’ll get it done.

Third Party Stuff

Every now and again, I might link to some third-party content I find interesting, if you click that link, I can’t protect you from what you might see on their site. It’s their world, I don’t govern their own policies. So their privacy approach might be a little different to mine…this also applies to third-party tools I have, namely Akismet and reCAPTCH for comments and contact forms.

Contact Form

I have a contact form, if you use you it follows the same policy as I’ve already mentioned, no messages are stored, the email address isn’t required – but if you want a reply you’ll need to provide one – the emails go direct to my email address, they aren’t stored anywhere else. To combat spam as best I can, the site uses reCAPTCHA from Google, you’ll notice their button in the bottom right of each page, they have their own legal mumbo jumbo so if you’re concerned, make sure you click that and read through it!

Disclaimery Stuff – Otherwise known as “don’t take my word as gospel”

General Blog Stuff

First things first, everything you read on this blog, all my ramblings of tech, gaming, music and general life musings – are my own, no one elses – christ if anyone had the thoughts in my head I’d genuinely feel sorry for them. But seriously, they don’t represent anyone else I might be connected with, my employer, my long suffering family or anyone else.

I do my best to make sure everything I write is accurate and up-to-date, sometimes spending hours researching something to make sure that’s the case, but ultimately, I’m only human. Take everything you read with a pinch of salt, it’s general info and hopefully a bit of a laugh at the same time. I can’t be held responsible if you try to follow a step-by-step guide I might write and brick your computer…or buy a game I recommend and end up hating it.

Mental Health Stuff

A big one this one, and it’s something that is serious and really important to me. So lock in for this one if you’re reading this far. My opinions on mental health, what causes it, how people act with it, how other people react to it, what to do about it…and so much more – are completely my own thoughts and opinions, and nothing more.

Mental health is a massive thing, and I’ve lived through some of the worst, but I will never belittle, state mine is worse or anything like that. But…and this is the totaly 100% crucial part I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I’m not a therapist, I’m not a counsellor or any kind of trained mental health professional. My thoughts and experiences and ultimately my stories and advice are all my own, no one elses. They are NOT a substitute for professional medical advice. If you’re struggling, find someone to talk to, seriously. There will be links somewhere on the site, and on any page discussing mental health that can help you.

I’ll say it again…this time in big letters DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING I SAY AS FACT OR ACTUAL MEDICAL (or otherwise) ADVICE, the same goes for anything online really. Always seek proper medical advice if you need it, and never ignore it.

SUPER IMPORTANT: If you’re in a crisis and feel like you’re going to hurt yourself or someone else. Please reach out to emergency services (999 or 111 in the UK) or a helpline like Samaritans (116 123) they can help you.

Finally on this one – and equally important. Just because I’m sharing my journey and my random musings, that doesn’t create a sort of defacto therapist-client relationship. This is just me, sharing and hopefully connecting.

Comments

Right, finally the comments. As I said earlier, I love readon them and I want to build a bit of a community. But that being said, other people have their own opinions, you might not agree with them, and that’s fine, that’s allowed. But do not cause arguments, throw around hate speech or any of that shit…I have the right, and will delete any comment I personally find, spammy, offensive or just not nice. Keep it friendly everyone.

Phew…that’s all that done and duster. Thank you for sticking through that. Now, lets crack on with the good stuff!
